Apprenticeships at NTW Solutions

Welcome

Find out more about apprenticeships at NTW Solutions

Hello I’m Tracey, Managing Director of NTW Solutions

On this page you can meet some of the fantastic people who have started out with us as apprentices.

NTW Solutions has always had a wide range of apprenticeships and lots of those apprentices have continued to work with us in permanent roles after their training had finished. We also support people to complete in-work apprenticeships to develop their skills and support their progression. We have a number of apprentices with us now in a wide range of roles doing great work to support better care. Our current company board chair began as an apprentice in the 1970s which shows that an apprenticeship can be a route to the top.

Apprenticeships are a great way to learn skills while you earn some money and are a great opportunity to start your career, to change into a new or different career, or to upskill in your current career. Our apprentices gain first hand experience of the world of work as studying with a college or training provider at the same time giving people a really rounded experience in your training.

If you’re looking for an apprenticeship keep an eye out and I hope you think of joining us.

Meet some of our apprentices

Hear from some of our apprentices past and present about what our apprenticeships offer and what it is like to work here

I'm Ellen, Financial Accounting and Salary Sacrifice Co-ordinator

I started as a Business Admin apprentice in the Finance Department in April 2018.

After completing my diploma in Business administration, I applied for a job as a Finance Officer in October 2019. I was thrilled when I found out I’d got it! I was then given the opportunity to work a six-month secondment as a Financial Accounting and Salary Sacrifice Co-ordinator and now do the job on a permanent basis.

I enrolled onto the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification. I am now nearly finished and am just waiting for one more result from my exam. In the future I can hopefully progress to a higher level within the team.

For me, one of the best things about working for the Finance Team is our flexible working hours. This is quite helpful for a lot of us, as we can fit work around our lifestyles.

The pandemic has changed the way we work a lot. I found it difficult in the first lockdown to adjust to working from home. It was hard to stay motivated so I reached out to my talent coach and explained that I was struggling. She helped me a lot with creating a plan for myself and setting targets. I passed two exams in 2020 and my confidence has increased since! I would say to anyone currently studying an apprenticeship to ask for help if they’re struggling and set themselves targets.

I’m currently working through my apprenticeship towards my Level 3 Assistant Accountant qualification. I’m very grateful to have been given the opportunity to study through work. I’m really enjoying being able to reflect on my studies whilst working in finance.

I would definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship! I feel that apprenticeships are not always valued as much as they should be. In my opinion, apprenticeships are actually really beneficial because you get to gain experience in a real working environment and strengthen your skills, all while earning money. It’s a win-win!

Meet Malcolm, Company Board Chair

Malcolm has dedicated his career to the NHS after starting as an apprentice in 1978. As a Chartered Engineer he has been leading facilities and estates services for many years. He led the establishment of the company and the transfer of services and was Managing Director since the company was formed until 2022 and is now our company board chair. He has championed the role of apprentices and is passionate about working for greater equality.

Meet Ethan, Electrician

Ethan started as an apprentice and now works as an electrician here at NTW Solutions.  In this video Ethan talks about his apprenticeship and what he has learned during his time with NTW solutions so far. He talks about how he applies what he has learned to his job everyday and the pride he takes in maintaining our hospital buildings and sites for the benefit of patients, staff and carers.

I'm Ashdon, Workforce Coordinator

“I started my Business Administration Apprenticeship within NTW Solutions ESR Team in April of 2019 and started working towards my Level 2 qualification in Customer Service simultaneously.

The best part of working within the Solutions Workforce team for me are the people I work with and the constant support I receive from my colleagues along with the wide variety of queries we receive and still every day I am learning new things and expanding my knowledge.

After being out of work for 2 and a half years after I left college, the Apprenticeship Scheme and NTW Solutions work path has allowed me to build work related skills and work towards a valuable qualification with the option of going onto a Level 3. The support I have received throughout my apprenticeship and the relationships I have built have helped me grow a lot as a person and my confidence has improved a great deal.

To anybody who is thinking of pursuing an Apprenticeship I say – go for it! The opportunity to build your skills within a working environment, developing a positive attitude towards working life, meeting new people and learning from them through their past experiences whilst earning a salary gives you a financial independence and really does set you up for the future”
