Modern Cycle Facilities Installed at Benton House

NTW Solutions Property Team has led on the refurbishment of Benton House for clinical teams at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW). The building in the centre of Newcastle will become a hub for clinical services in the area and is within easy cycle distance of large numbers of people.

The cycle facilities which have been installed are the most up to date on the CNTW estate with secure storage of bikes inside the building with access to modern showers and a locker area. Cycling is a great way to reduce carbon emissions, improve physical and mental health, and save money on transport costs. However, many cyclists face barriers such as lack of secure parking spaces, showers and lockers at their workplaces.

The cycle facilities support the delivery of our Green Plan which focuses on becoming net zero by 2040. Staff commuting forms a significant share of the carbon footprint of the organisation so moves towards greener forms of travel are hugely welcome. That is in addition to the health and wellbeing benefits of cycling. There are cycle facilities at all CNTW sites but the new facilities at Benton House are a gold standard which can be replicated elsewhere.
