NTW Solutions Charges Ahead to a Greener Fleet

NTW Solutions has replaced diesel vans with a fleet of new electric vehicles. NTW Solutions provides services to Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) and the vehicles are used to transport items such as pharmacy deliveries, furniture and post between hospital sites.

The vans replace older diesel vehicles which will lead to a saving of around five tonnes of carbon each year for each van replaced. The removal of vehicle emissions will help with cleaner air on and around our sites, many of which are in residential areas.

They are also fitted with a system which monitors driver performance to allow for more efficient driving to maximise the energy use. In addition, staff driving the vehicles are receiving training in techniques for driving more efficiently.

NTW Solutions has already rolled out electric vehicle chargers across all our main sites and offers a scheme for staff to have a charger installed at home with the cost spread over three years.

The vans have been kitted out with the company logo and a note to say that they are 100% electric. The previous vans were unbranded and the aim is to demonstrate pride in our new electric fleet.

The move to an electric fleet is part of our Green Plan which is about getting to carbon net zero. It sits alongside other actions such as increasing solar power generation from our buildings and using energy more efficiently through LED lighting and introducing better building energy management systems.
