The Property Team within NTW Solutions has worked with clinical teams across Gateshead to get the right teams into the right accommodation. The Gateshead East Community Treatment Teams have moved into their new home at Keegan Court and this includes rooms to see patients for the first time.
The building is owned by NHS Property Services and we have worked closely with them on the new spaces. They have delivered the work to provide the clinical rooms as the landlord of the site. This is particularly important way of working which makes the most of our capital budgets.
The project involved a wider shuffle of teams to make sure that the borough is well covered and includes the use of clinical space at Blaydon Health Centre for the Gateshead West Team which is closer to where patients live than the previous base.
Working in the Property Team the staff are used to playing a giant game of 3D chess and this project has been particularly complex. They have worked closely with the clinical teams and the overall result is that teams are now closer to their patients in nicer brighter accommodation which is a win both staff and patients.
On moving into the new space Dr Arun Sen commented,
“I am looking forward to starting regular clinics at our new team base at Grassbanks. The space is perfectly designed for patient comfort and privacy as well as a providing a secure and open working space for the team. We now have room for the multidisciplinary team as well which is a major advantage as it ensures seamless collaborative care for patients.”
Melissa Baynes, Community Clinical Manager, said,
“We are delighted to see Gateshead East Community Treatment Team and Gateshead Early Intervention in Psychosis Team move into this fantastic new space. Having dedicated clinical rooms means we can offer a more private and accessible environment for our patients- an important step in delivering great care in the heart of the community.”
