Outpatient Pharmacy
The outpatient pharmacy service is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). It is conveniently located on the St Nicholas Hospital site, benefiting from a local highly experienced and professional workforce from Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear Foundation NHS Trust (CNTW).
Our professional standards are adopted directly from CNTW and continue to be developed with changing service demands. We are rightly proud of our safety culture: processes within the pharmacy are designed to deliver safe and effective care to patients and the public. A recent inspection by the GPhC in March 2019 independently verified our approach by awarding the service with the highest rating possible.
Our state of the art pharmacy robot is capable of dispensing compliance aids more accurately and quickly than is possible with traditional manual methods.
Our team provide the following services
- Clinical screening and validation of prescriptions
- Safe and efficient medicines dispensing
- Resolution of clinical, pharmaceutical, legal or local formulary issues
- Medicines information enquiry answering
The outpatient pharmacy service has a dedicated Superintendent Pharmacist and a team of pharmacy staff working to rigorous statutory and professional standards; undertaking regular Continuous Personal Development.
